- Q: How to remove and install the negative battery cable on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?A: To extract the negative Battery Cable, loose it from the battery, unclip the battery heat shield hold-in retainers, and the heat shield itself. Next, remove the upper clips of the battery cables and then detach the negative Battery Cable ground lead from the rh frame rail. While keeping the vehicle raised, remove the lower clip of the battery cables and disconnect the negative Battery Cable from the engine block, then bring down the vehicle and remove the negative battery completely. To install, begin by connecting the negative Battery Cable to the vehicle and lifting it back up. Bolt the negative Battery Cable to the engine block tightening it to 8 n.m (71.lb in). Install the lower clip to the battery cables and lower the vehicle and then connect the negative Battery Cable ground lead to the rh frame rail. Next, attach the upper clips on the battery cables, restore the battery heat shield, and attach the negative wire to the battery but tighten the bolt to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Finally, program the transmitters.
