2000 Chevrolet Corvette Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2000 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The vehicle needs to be raised and supported before replacing the rear brake hose. Clear all dirt and foreign materials from both brake hoses and fitting components after tire and wheel removal. Start by disconnecting the brake pipe or crossover pipe from the brake hose and then remove the retainer from the brake hose bracket followed by taking off the brake hose. Collect the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt along with the brake hose and two copper gaskets from brake caliper and throw away the gaskets. Failing to exchange old fasteners during installation with new ones could result in vehicle control loss and personal injuries. Using new copper brake hose gaskets is critical since this practice stops brake fluid from leaking between the components. Screw in the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt along with the brake hose and two new copper gaskets to the brake caliper ensuring a 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) torque setting. You must attach the brake hose to the bracket before fastening it in place with the retainer. Fasten the brake or crossover pipe onto the brake hose through tightening the nut to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). After installing the tire-wheels assembly you must tighten the wheel nuts to reach 140 nm (100 ft. Lbs.) then lower the vehicle before bleeding brakes.
