2000 Chevrolet Express 3500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2000 Chevrolet Express 3500?
A: To replace the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor, initially disconnect the negative Battery Cable and lift the vehicle. Remove the ckp sensor harness connector, next remove the sensor hold down bolt, and finally the sensor from the Timing Cover. Check the sensor o-ring for cover, cracks, leakage, for which it is changed if necessary, and the o-ring oil is lubricated with clean oil of the engine before the installation. Clean the surfaces of the ckp sensor where it is going to be fitted and ensure they are burr-free. While installing the ckp sensor, ensure it is fully seated and stationary in the front cover before you torque the hold down bolt to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Once you have secured the sensor, reconnect the ckp sensor harness connector, replace the vehicle to its original position, and replace the negative Battery Cable. Lastly, get through the ckp the variation learning procedure.
