The Crankshaft Position Sensor service requires connection of the scan tool combined with application of the vehicle's parking brake followed by wheel blocking and hood closure. Put the transmission into park (A/T) or set it to neutral (M/T) and allow the engine to idle until the coolant thermometer displays 65°c (150°F). Turn off all accessories. A failed attempt at the ckp system variation learn procedure requires scanning for additional diagnostic information through dtc p1336. The scan tool must execute the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure provided the powertrain control module (PCM) registers a brake switch state transition from released to applied during this procedure after the ignition switch reaches crank position. Service brakes must be maintained rather than parking brake activation at all times during this learning stage. The operator should release throttle immediately when engine deceleration occurs to allow engine control return before responding to throttle position post procedure completion. After reaching 4,000 rpm maintain engine speed for less than a second prior to instantly releasing the throttle. Turn off the ignition after a 15-second wait during which you completed the required learn procedure.
