The procedure for alternative fuels Engine Control Module (AF ECM) replacement starts with disconnecting the negative
Battery Cable and removing the bolt from the coolant recovery reservoir before putting the reservoir aside. You should depress the release tab on the alternative fuels ecm mounting bracket while lifting the ecm out of its bracket position. The ecm electric connectors (2, 4) need to be disconnected after removing their connector position assurance locks. Proceed with installing the ecm adapter bracket inside the vehicle when bracket removal is not needed while placing it correctly on the loose forward bolt. Install the rear ecm adapter bracket bolt and the fender support rod which are attached by bolt . Next follow with installing the rod between fender and adapter bracket . Tighten the front ecm adapter bracket bolt to 24 n.m (18 lb ft) while the rear ecm adapter bracket bolt reaches 24 n.m (18 lb ft) and the support rod bolt at the fender reaches 24 n.m (18 lb ft) followed by the support rod bolt at the adapter bracket reaching 12 n.m (108 lb in). The ecm mounting bracket must be connected to the ecm adapter bracket through four bolts which should be tightened at 12 n.m (106 lb in). Insert the electrical connectors (2, 4) to the alternative fuels ecm before applying the connector position assurance locks. Fasten the alternative fuels ecm into the mounting bracket, place the coolant recovery reservoir properly before installing the mounting bolt with torque set at 11 n.m (97 lb in). Reconnect the negative Battery Cable while you might need to program the ecm's software with the required alternative fuels programming.
