The system requires the Knock Sensor (KS) module transferred from the old unit. Start by canceling the battery power following the removal of bracket-mounted vcm bolts and raising the bracket to expose the A/C Accumulator before sliding it out. Pull out the retainer clips before disconnecting vcm connectors and remove the vcm from its bracket. When replacing the vcm start by removing access cover screws followed by the access cover itself while keeping the ks module in a protected position to prevent damage from occurring. The necessary step to remove the ks module requires a gentle pinch action on its retaining clip. Installation of the new vcm requires matching its service number to the original but the ks module installation should begin with socket alignment followed by clicking action when pushing the module into place. Place the access cover back along with its screws while tightening them to 5.0 n.m (44 lb in) so the snap retainer springs into position. Set the vcm inside the bracket and fasten the vcm connectors and retaining clips before placing the bracket beneath the fender edge while tightening its bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in). When using a new vcm passenger must connect the negative Battery Cable followed by running the vcm programming procedure.
