How to replace the steering wheel on 2000 Chevrolet Malibu?

Steering Wheel replacement begins by disabling the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system and disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. First remove the Steering Column trim covers in addition to any inflator modules. Proceed by taking out the Steering Wheel nut followed by using the j 1859-a Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-A) in combination with the j 42120 Steering Wheel puller legs (J 42120) for safe Steering Wheel removal without damaging the Steering Column shaft end. After disconnecting column electrical connectors, channel these wires through the Steering Wheel opening before extracting the Steering Wheel from the vehicle. After routing electrical connectors through the Steering Wheel opening you should install the Steering Wheel on the Steering Column by connecting it to the column. The Steering Wheel nut requires a torque setting of 37 nm (27 ft. Lbs.) to secure. Installation proceeds with the inflator module followed by Steering Column trim covers.
