How to service and repair the brake light switch on 2000 Chevrolet Metro?

In order to service the brake light switch, remove the negative battery cable and the connector of the stoplamp switch. Take out the locknut and unscrew the switch. Install the switch, and position it by pulling back the brake pedal and making sure that they are in contact. Re-connect the electrical connector with the negative battery cable.
