2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the hazard warning switch on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Start the operation by setting the parking brake and placing the transaxle shift control indicator at position 1 when column shift is present. Start by making space to work with the Steering Wheel before you unfasten the ignition switch cylinder bezel and the rh and lh instrument panel (IP) fuse block access opening covers which are needed for impala models together with removing the lh instrument panel (IP) fuse block access opening cover used on monte carlo models. Then proceed by taking out the steering column filler before opening the instrument panel compartment door which is present on monte carlos. Beginning on the left side of the trim plate remove its screws before pulling it back to separate it from the ip cluster frame. This action allows access to the Hazard Warning Switch. The Hazard Warning Switch exits the ip cluster trim plate after removing it from the electrical connectors. To install the Hazard Warning Switch you should first place it onto the ip cluster trim plate then connect the electrical connector. Press the ip cluster trim plate against the ip trim pad before you tighten its screws to 2 n.m (18 lb in) torque specifications. Put in the left-hand instrument panel (IP) fuse block access opening cover for monte carlo and then add the steering column filler before closing the monte carlo instrument panel compartment door. Complete the installation by placing the ignition switch cylinder bezel then return the Steering Wheel to its factory set position and align the transaxle shift control indicator to park when equipped with column shift along with releasing the parking brake.
