Chevrolet Monte Carlo Hazard Warning Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the hazard warning switch on Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: The first step to replace the Hazard Warning Switch requires manual application of the parking brake followed by shifting of the transaxle shift control indicator to 1 if column shift is present. Start by adjusting the Steering Wheel access and removing both the bezel from the ignition switch cylinder and the left access cover from the ip fuse block. The next step requires removal of the steering column filler and the monte carlo requires opening its instrument panel compartment door. Approach the left side of the ip cluster trim plate then delicately pull it backward to separate it for accessing the Hazard Warning Switch. You should disconnect the electrical connectors from the Hazard Warning Switch as you remove it from the ip cluster trim plate. The new Hazard Warning Switch requires placement into the ip cluster trim plate after which you must connect its electrical connector. Apply force to the ip cluster trim plate while it is inside the ip trim pad until all retainers are fully nested before screwing in the ip cluster trim plate screws at 2 n.m (18 lb in). The ip compartment needs its left access cover to be replaced with the ip fuse block followed by the steering column filler and then closing the door. To complete the task insert the bezel onto the ignition switch cylinder followed by Steering Wheel repositioning to its original position then adjust the transaxle shift control indicator to park if it exists and release the parking brake.
