2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the Turn Signal Switch on 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: You need to position the multifunction turn signal at its center off postion while disconnecting the battery's negative terminal. Turn off sir protection before taking out the Steering Wheel and steering column covers. Use a force tool to disconnect the steering column wire harness from its fixed point and straighten the two wire harness straps from the wire harness itself. Disconnect the steering column bulkhead connector from both vehicle wire harness and multifunction turn signal lever steering column bulkhead connectors. First disconnect the retaining bolts from the multifunction turn signal lever and then take it out of the vehicle. Place the multifunction turn signal lever on the canceling cam by pressing the electrical contact with a small flat blade. Insert the bolts and set them to 62 inch lbs. Torque. Join the gray and black connectors to both ends of the multifunction turn signal lever bulkhead connector. Attach the steering column plug back to the vehicle wiring system and secure two wire straps through the steering column wiring. Then attach the wire harness to the built-in fixture on the wire harness . Install the steering column trim back on with a confirmation to put the lever in off position before adding the Steering Wheel. Reverse all measures you took to disable sir by reestablishing power to the system.
