- Q: How to replace the front A/C Hose inlet tube on 2000 Chevrolet Tracker?A: The first step for replacing the evaporator inlet tube requires recovery and discharge of refrigerant. Uninstall the grille while extracting the air cleaner hose until the evap canister slides free from its bracket. Unbolt the expansion valve to allow removing the plate by rotating it counterclockwise and separate the evaporator inlet tube from the expansion valve assembly. Remove the evaporator inlet tube from its body retainers once you disconnect the condenser outlet-to-evaporator inlet fitting and take out the tube from the vehicle. New o-rings that receive mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil should be used when installing the evaporator inlet tube. Secure it to body mounted retainers and the expansion valve after repositioning it inside the vehicle. Position the plate in a clockwise direction before installing the bolt which needs to be tightened to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Secure the evaporator inlet tube with the condenser outlet tube by tightening the fitting to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Place the evap canister followed by the air cleaner hose and the front grille into their original location. Complete the process by performing an evacuation on the air conditioning system followed by recharge. Next run the a/c system for leak detection.
