2000 Chevrolet Tracker Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the oil pan on 2000 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Begin the Oil Pan service by removing the oil level indicator then securely raise your vehicle. Before starting front skid plate removal owners need to detach the front axle assembly from 4wd vehicles' chassis. Steel your attention on removing both the steering gear and draining the motor oil from the engine. First detach all 4 bolts and the right side engine block-to-transmission support bracket then remove the flywheel cover. Use extreme care to detach the 16 lower cylinder block bolts together with the 2 nuts while protecting the contact surface of the engine Oil Pan. Begin by removing the engine Oil Pan then uninstall the 3 bolts along with the oil pump strainer. Clean the interior of the engine Oil Pan alongside the oil pump strainer screen and both mating surfaces which connect the engine Oil Pan and lower cylinder block. Follow these installation steps: install new o-rings onto the oil pump then secure the strainer to the pump by tightening the strainer bolts to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.) before torquing the bracket bolt to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). The installation requires silicon sealant (GM P/N 12345997 or equivalent) applied in a continuous bead across the engine Oil Pan mating surface followed by engine Oil Pan bolt-up with 16 bolts and 2 nuts reaching a torque of 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Reinstall the flywheel cover, engine oil gasket, and Drain Plug. Apply torque to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.) when tightening the Drain Plug. When installing the right side engine block-to-transmission support bracket, tighten its bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). 4wd vehicle owners need to replace their front axle assembly before they must complete differential filling. The installation process requires the steering gear and front skid plate. Complete power steering bleeder steps. The process ends with installing the oil level indicator followed by vehicle lowering and engine oil filling to specified level and pressure checks and leak inspections and front toe-in adjustment.
