Oil Pan is essential and is used where lubricating oil is stored so as to ensure the vehicular's engine performs its functions. Wet sump system on the other hand has the oil pan where the oil is collected and then pumped through the engine to offer lubrication and cool various parts. The screen in the pickup tube supplies the required amount of oil as and when required while protecting the engine in the process. Whereas original pans that were used were stamped steel, today's are generally made from cast aluminum for strength. Thus, the Chevrolet Tracker Oil Pan involving its care in terms of oil levels and proper lubrication, represents a significant intermediary element between the engine part and the whole car.

Chevrolet Tracker Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the oil pan on Chevrolet Tracker?
    A:
The first step for servicing or repairing the Oil Pan requires lifting and supporting the vehicle. Separate the chassis from the front Differential assembly by removing the four bolts and front skid plate before continuing work on four-wheel drive models. Start by removing the Crankshaft Position Sensor bolt after pulling out the sensor. A drain pan should go under the engine Oil Pan to collect spillage before removing the plug and gasket for oil draining. Drain the oil before taking out the flywheel cover and sixteen Oil Pan bolts together with the two cylinder block located Oil Pan nuts. Lower the Oil Pan and unscrew the Oil Pump pick-up strainer as you turn the pan to avoid the steering rack followed by complete removal of the pan from the vehicle. Wash down the interior of the engine Oil Pan while also cleaning the strainer screen inside the Oil Pump and applying sealant gm p/n 12346240 to the mating surfaces between the engine Oil Pan and the cylinder block. Install engine Oil Pan mating surfaces with a continuous bead of silicone sealant gm p/n 12346240. Mount the engine Oil Pump pick-up strainer to the cylinder block while securing it with bolts which should be tightened to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). You must next place the engine Oil Pan against the cylinder block with sixteen bolts and two nuts that should be tightened to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Loop the flywheel cover over its housing then tighten all bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After installing the engine oil Drain Plug with gasket, torque it to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.) then perform a similar procedure on the Crankshaft Position Sensor and its bolt with 11 nm (97 inch lbs.) torque. Reinstall the front Differential assembly to the chassis frame structure of four-wheel drive systems and attach the front skid plate (if equipped) using four bolts attained to 55 nm (40 ft. Lbs.) torque value. The last steps include lowering the vehicle and following the oil specifications for refilling before checking the oil pressure when everything is finished.
