2003 Chevrolet Tracker Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2003 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: First of all, strip off the oil level indicator; later lift up and support the.vehicle. If possible, remove the front skid plate and in case of a 4wd model, remove the front axle assembly from the chassis. Then remove the steering gear and drain out the engine oil. Disconnect the 4 bolts and the right side engine block-to-transmission support bracket along with the flywheel cover. Carefully unscrew the 16 bolts and the 2 nuts from the lower cylinder block in such a way that you do not damage the contact surface of the lower cylinder block for the Oil Pan. Having started the vehicle engine and let it run, check its performance by observing the temperature gauge; if the figure is below 30, there might be a substantial amount of fuelatatype of oil in the Oil Pan due to damaged oil pump strainer. To avoid this situation and to ensure that the tasks are carried out according to the prescribed rules from maintenance and repair service manual, eliminate the hot motor engine by removing the device Oil Pan and 3 bolts of the oil pump strainer. Clean the internal of the engine Oil Pan, oil pump strainer screen, and mating surfaces on the engine Oil Pan and lower cylinder block. Mount new o-rings and the oil pump strainer to the oil pump and fasten the 2 strainer bolts first and the bracket bolt to 11nm (97inches lbs). Cover the mating surface of engine Oil Pan with continuous bead of silicon sealant, gm p/n 12345997, and attach engine Oil Pan and fasten with 16 bolts and 2 nuts to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Although not to be fitted quite yet, it is important to insert the engine oil gasket and Drain Plug and tighten the latter to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Replace the flywheel cover and the right side engine block trans support bracket, tightening the bracket bolts to 50 nm (37 ft lbs). For the 4wd vehicles put in the front axle assembly, and fill the Differential. Replace the steering gear, flush the power steering, and if available, install the front skid plate. Lastly, reinstall the oil level indicator and lower the vehicle, fill in the crankcase with engine oil followed by inspection of correct oil level and pressure, inspection of fluid leaks and adjustment of the front toe-in.
