2000 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Throttle Body on 2000 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Start Throttle Body service and maintenance by draining coolant. Remove both the iat sensor electrical connection and breather tube from their attachments on the air intake tube. First unscrew the clamps securing the air intake tube then extract the tube. Service technicians must first remove power from the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector combined with the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector and accelerator controls cable. First disconnect the cruise control cable from the throttle lever and cable bracket before removing the accelerator control cable bracket. The installation of new parts requires disconnecting Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses along with the removal of the heater pipe nut near the Throttle Body. Unscrew the Throttle Body attaching nuts and bolts to the Intake Manifold then extract the Throttle Body assembly from the manifold. Avoid cleaning the Throttle Body assembly gasket surfaces with solvents because solvent exposure can cause surface damage during both installation and dismantle operations. First replace the gasket if needed and place the Throttle Body assembly correctly. Tighten the Throttle Body retaining nuts to 28 n.m (21 lb ft) using bolts. The heater pipe connection and Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses must be remobilized following their service. Connect the electrical wires for iac and tp sensor back to their corresponding terminals. Fasten the accelerator controls cable bracket followed by cable connection. Connect the cruise cable to throttle lever and accelerator bracket only when needed. After tightening the tube clamps install the air intake tube and hook up the breather tube to the air intake tube while reattaching the iat sensor electrical connector. Refill the coolant before checking the throttle's ability to move freely between full closure and wide-open positions. This step includes verifying proper throttle operation and inspecting the accelerator pedal and associated carpet fit that influences the pedal's motion.
