One must begin the p/s return line replacement by taking out the air cleaner assembly. A drain pan should be positioned beneath the vehicle. When replacing the power steering return hose start by disconnecting it from both the Power Steering Pump of vehicles without coolers and from the Power Steering Cooler unit if present and finally from the power steering gear. The power steering gear return hose needs to be detached from the vehicle. The power steering gear return hose installation on the vehicle requires no bends or twists while connecting it to its proper position. Secure the hose to the power steering gear with a torque of 30 nm then tighten it further to 22 ft. Lbs. Take the hose to the Power Steering Cooler only when the vehicle is equipped and then tighten the hose clamp to 2 nm (18 inch lbs.). The hose installation for vehicles without coolers should be directed to the Power Steering Pump before securing the clamp at 2 nm (18 inch lbs.). End the procedure by reinstalling the air cleaner assembly after you remove the drain pan then perform a power steering system bleed procedure.
