How to replace the Power Steering Hose Return Line on 2001 GMC Jimmy?

The procedure to replace the p/s return line begins by taking off the air cleaner assembly followed by placing a drain pan under the vehicle. The power steering gear return hose needs disconnecting from the Power Steering Pump on vehicles without a Power Steering Cooler but must be dismounted from the cooler if the vehicle has this component. First detach the wiring harness clip from the power steering return hose at the power steering gear before disconnecting the return hose from the gear itself to remove it from the vehicle. To set up the power steering gear return hose you must reinstall it into the vehicle first. Fasten the power steering gear hose immediately after connecting it using 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) torques. You should reinstall the wiring harness clip to the power steering return hose at the power steering gear before connecting the hose to the Power Steering Cooler and tightening its clamp with 2 nm torque (18 inch lbs.). Heaters lacking a Power Steering Cooler must have the hose connected to the Power Steering Pump before securing it with a clamp tightened to 2 nm(18 inch lbs). After removing the drain pan you should install the air cleaner assembly while you perform the bleeding process on the power steering system.
