  A: Before performing power steering pump servicing or repairs on the P Series vehicle you need to drain all power steering fluid from the pump. Rework the assembly by removing first the connector and fitting assembly then the O-ring seal. You must remove both the control valve assembly along with the flow control spring from inside the pump housing assembly. Install the flow control spring into the pump housing assembly before adding the control valve assembly onto the flow control spring. You should position the O-ring seal onto the connector and fitting assembly before proceeding. One must read and follow the Fastener Notice contained in Service Precautions before fitting the connector and fitting assembly to the pump housing . The assembly connector and fitting must be tightened to a torque of 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
