    Q:
How to replace the power steering pump on Chevrolet Blazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should start by placing a drain pan beneath the vehicle before removing the air cleaner assembly. Start by removing the Power Steering Pump pulley followed by detaching both the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear alongside removing the power steering cooler hose from the pump. Extract the air reactor pipe by removing its lower retaining nut from the check valve then disconnecting it from the lower reactor tube. The Power Steering Pump requires the removal of its filler neck tube mounting bolt and filler neck tube components followed by disconnecting the rear mounting-bracket nut that anchors to the engine stud and the front mounting bolts securing the Power Steering Pump. Accessors should remove the Power Steering Pump and pressure hose after they loosen bracket fasteners and advance the bracket forward so they can reinstall these components correctly. The attachment procedure for the power steering pressure hose starts by installing it onto the pump before securing it at 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the Power Steering Pump together with its pressure hose into the vehicle before setting the pump bracket in position and securing all mounting bolts and nut to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Follow the mounting bolt installation of the front section to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.), then perform the rear mounting bracket nut tightening step by securing it to the engine stud at 41 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). The procedure requires installation of the filler neck tube while adding its mounting bolt and achieving 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) torque. The lower secondary air injection reactor pipe requires connection to the check valve and mounting of its bracket to the pump bracket stud with subsequent tightening of the retaining nut to 41 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). The lower secondary air injection reactor pipe needs installation to its check valve while power steering cooler hose gets connected to the pump and the power steering pressure hose gets connected to the gear. The repair work ends with replacing the power steering pulley while reinstating the air cleaner followed by pan removal and power steering system filling until complete bleeding before inspecting hoses for proper frame and component clearance.

    Q:
How to service and repair the power steering pump in the P Series on GMC Jimmy? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before performing power steering pump servicing or repairs on the P Series vehicle you need to drain all power steering fluid from the pump. Rework the assembly by removing first the connector and fitting assembly then the O-ring seal. You must remove both the control valve assembly along with the flow control spring from inside the pump housing assembly. Install the flow control spring into the pump housing assembly before adding the control valve assembly onto the flow control spring. You should position the O-ring seal onto the connector and fitting assembly before proceeding. One must read and follow the Fastener Notice contained in Service Precautions before fitting the connector and fitting assembly to the pump housing . The assembly connector and fitting must be tightened to a torque of 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).

    Q:
How to replace the power steering pump on GMC Jimmy? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the Power Steering Pump replacement by unfastening the Fan Clutch from the Water Pump followed by driving belt removal and Power Steering Pump pulley detachment. The first step involves lifting and sustaining the motor vehicle followed by removing the component that protects the steering linkage. A drain pan should be positioned beneath the pump before disconnecting the power steering pressure hose. Lower the vehicle before you take out the air cleaner assembly then disconnect the power steering return hose and cap the hoses. The Power Steering Pump removal starts with removing the power steering filler neck tube mounting bolt and filler neck tube before unbolting the power steering rear mounting bracket nut and lower mounting nut from the engine stud along with the front mounting bolts which will allow pump removal. Place the Power Steering Pump into position then fasten it with front mounting bolts which should be tightened to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). The rear mounting bracket nut and lower mounting nut need to be attached before torquing them to 41 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). The installation requires users to reinstall the filler neck tube along with its mounting bolt while tightening it to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). The power steering cooler hose needs attachment alongside reinstalling the air cleaner assembly. After supporting the vehicle from elevated height connect the power steering pressure hose followed by a return to installing the steering linkage shield. Keep the vehicle in its lowered position and install the Power Steering Pump pulley followed by the Drive Belt and end with the Fan Clutch to attach it to the Water Pump. The power steering needs filling up while bleeding out air but the technician must check that the hoses maintain sufficient clearance from frame and other components during this procedure.
