2000 GMC Savana 3500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC system on 2000 GMC Savana 3500?
A: Recovery of the refrigerant system is needed in order to replace the accumulator in the hvac system. Then, take off the coolant recovery or surge tank and then go for the battery from the vehicle. Disconnect the a/c lines from the accumulator and pull out the connectors. Then, remove the accumulator and the bracket from the car. In installation, initially, secure the accumulator and bracket with the screws which should be tightened to the Evaporator case to 6 n.m (53 lb in) then there should be nut retaining the accumulator on the a/c Evaporator and blower module stud that should be tightened to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Here, you should reconnect the electrical connectors, tight the compressor/condenser hose to the accumulator, and tighten it to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Lastly, reinstall the battery and the coolant recovery or surge tank and re-charge the refrigerant of the system.
