2000 GMC Savana 3500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2000 GMC Savana 3500?
A: The first step in condenser replacement involves Battery Cable deconnection and system refrigerant recovery. Start by removing the radiator grille followed by the lower Hood Latch cover and Hood Latch and left hand headlamp housing. Begin by disconnecting the a/c lines from the condenser unit and remove the retaining bolts before you can remove the condenser. Position the condenser properly before fixing it into place using retaining bolts which must be tightened to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Fasten the a/c lines to their position on the condenser by applying a torque of 28 n.m (21 lb ft) to the compressor/condenser hose. Reinstall the left hand headlamp housing followed by the Hood Latch and lower Hood Latch cover and radiator grille. Refrigerant evacuation starts the process, followed by recharging before reinstalling the battery negative cable.
