2001 Buick LeSabre Exhaust Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the RH Exhaust Manifold (W/O NC8) on 2001 Buick LeSabre?
A: The first step to replace the rh Exhaust Manifold (W/O NC8) involves removal of the fuel injector sight shield along with disconnection of the heated Oxygen Sensor at the sensor pigtail. Take off the right spark plugs as the first step followed by unfastening the two nuts holding the power brake booster heat shield to the exhaust crossover. Finally separate the heat shield from its position. Two bolts need removal for disconnecting the exhaust crossover from its placement between the right Exhaust Manifold and transaxle filler tube. To begin the replacement support your vehicle then proceed to detach both the Exhaust Manifold pipe and heated Oxygen Sensor only if you need to replace them. The sight shield fuel bracket first requires removal of its retaining nuts then the bracket parts before progressing to removing right engine lift bracket fasteners and the accompanying bracket. Disengage the bolt connecting the egr inlet pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold before separating it from the pipe in addition to taking out both components and gasket without reusing any parts. Remove the exhaust crossover seal from the exhaust crossover which cannot be reinstalled and then clean and inspect the right Exhaust Manifold. A new exhaust crossover seal goes onto the exhaust crossover while a new Exhaust Manifold Gasket must be placed over the cylinder head studs. The right Exhaust Manifold should be positioned over the exhaust crossover towards the right cylinder head before installing its fasteners which require tightening to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Secure the egr inlet pipe to the right Exhaust Manifold through the installation bolt before tightening it to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). Fasten the right engine lift bracket onto the engine framework before securing its retaining fasteners at 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs. Torque). Place the fuel injector sight shield bracket onto the engine before installing retaining nuts which need to be tightened to 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.). The technician should install heated Oxygen Sensor followed by Exhaust Manifold pipe before lowering the vehicle. Finally, install the transaxle filler tube before positioning the exhaust crossover bolts to the right manifold while applying 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) torque. The power brake booster heat shield should be installed onto the exhaust crossover followed by tightening two nuts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Zinc the right side spark plugs before placing them in their location. Also insert the heated Oxygen Sensor through its sensor pigtail then reinstall the fuel injector sight shield.
