2001 Buick LeSabre Secondary Air Injection Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Service and Replace the Secondary Air Injection Pump on 2001 Buick LeSabre?
A: The installation of a new secondary air injection (AIR) pump begins with loosening the pinch clamp on the air exhaust pipe hose and unhinging the air exhaust hose from the air pump. The procedure starts by disconnecting the electrical connector of the air pump while removing three mounting nuts that connect the air pump bracket to the transmission mount. Detach the air pump together with its bracket while they function as an assembly unit. The installation process requires you to fix the air pump together with bracket onto the transmission mount via three securing nuts tightened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque setting. The electrical connection to the air pump should be installed before applying light lubrication to the air pump outlet hose interior followed by attaching the exhaust hose to the outlet port. Place the pinch clamp around the junction of the air pump outlet port and the exhaust hose.
