2002 Buick LeSabre Secondary Air Injection Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace the Secondary Air Injection Pump on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: First loosen the pinch clamp on the secondary air injection (AIR) exhaust pipe hose then disconnect the air exhaust hose from the air pump and the air pump electrical connector . First unscrew the 3 bracket-nuts connecting the air pump bracket to the transmission mount before extracting the air pump assembly with bracket. The installation process requires fastening the air pump as well as its bracket onto the transmission mount through three secure nuts tight enough at 50 n.m (37 lb ft). The first step is to connect the air pump electrical connector while applying light lubricant to the inner side of the air pump outlet hose and attaching it to the air pump outlet port. Connect the pinch clamp around the air pump outlet port and exhaust hose connection.
