The maintenance team must raise and support the vehicle before starting parking brake cable replacement. Complete release of the park brake is essential before pulling down on the intermediate park brake cable near its connector to disconnect it from the park brake connector. The sequence begins with removing the intermediate cable from the rear equalizer and right rear park brake cable followed by removing intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket. The intermediate park cable gets installed into its brake cable retaining brackets before attaching left rear park brake cable to intermediate cable with an equalizer and right rear park brake cable to intermediate park brake cable. To complete the installation process lower the vehicle after inserting the intermediate park brake cable into the cable retaining bracket then into the park brake cable connector.
