• Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2001 Cadillac Catera?

  A: To replace the Starter motor, disengage the negative cable from the battery and lift the vehicle up for access. The positive Battery Cable Starter motor lead nut and the positive Battery Cable lead have to be removed from the Starter, as well as the Starter solenoid terminal lead nut and the terminal lead. Then, remove Starter motor bolts (2, 3), and pull out Starter motor. Installation involves placing the Starter motor and fastening it with the Starter motor bolts (2,3) and tightening it to 60 n.m (44 lb ft).
