2001 Cadillac DeVille Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?
A: Free the HVAC system's refrigerant before proceeding with condenser replacement. Start your work by removing the upper filler panel and hood latch support. The first step for condenser replacement involves releasing the discharge hose fastener then extracting the discharge hose from its position on the condenser. First detach the fastener which secures the suction hose before removing the suction hose from the condenser. After you disconnect the condenser mounting fastener you must remove both left and right condenser sides from their retainers before extracting the condenser from the vehicle. To mount the condenser start by inserting the right side into the retainer first then position the left side into its retainer before placing the condenser inside the vehicle. Screw and tighten the condenser mounting bolts to a torque of 13 N.m (10 lb ft). Take note of damaging conditions in the sealing washers because any compromised washer needs immediate replacement. Unlike the other parts, sealing washers don't require lubrication. Install the evaporator hose on the condenser then tighten its fastener to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Fasten the discharge hose to the condenser and tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). First install the hood latch bracket then recharge the A/C system before conducting a leak test on the fittings with the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400). To finish the installation, mount the upper filler panel.
