2001 Cadillac Eldorado Antenna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the power antenna mast on 2001 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: To change the power antenna mast, first, turn ON the radio and wiggle at the thinnest rod-section (100 rod) about 26 mm (1 in.) over the other parts, and at once eliminate the power by plugging the battery or disconnecting the power lead from the radio, power lead from the antenna. Then, you should remove the finial using a wrench (or appropriate pliers) on the flat sides while simultaneously so that you would keep the 100 rod section from turning, keyed with padded pliers to take care of them from being damaged. The 100 rod is not movable and not straightenable. Next, pull out and slide (3,4) sections on top of the 100 rod with using finger or long nose pliers and get the sections out. To install, grease the contractor using the greasing staff, then apply the assembly tool (brass tube) over the contractor compressing the contract fingers. Lift the mast assemblies (3,4) over the 100 rod section and down into the mast stationary tube beneath the contractor fingers removing the assembly tool. You need to install the bottom mast into the stationary tube so that the threaded top of the 100 rod section is above the other tops of the tubes. Then remove the insulator stop and the finial , reinstall the power source, and cycle the antenna mast.
