2001 Cadillac Seville Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the hydraulic brake booster on 2001 Cadillac Seville?
A: The replacement process for the hydraulic Brake Booster begins with pumping the Brake Pedal eight times to remove system pressure until it develops strong resistance. To start removing the hydraulic Brake Booster you must extract brake fluid from its reservoir and sever the connection of the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Use a wrench tool to unscrew the master cylinder mounting nut before gently pulling forward the master cylinder away from the booster studs in a manner which prevents brake pipe bending. The hydraulic pressure (feed) line needs disconnecting at the booster's rear end and afterward removing the hydraulic return hose clamp and hose from the booster's top while capping each exposed hydraulic line to avoid fluid loss and contamination. Remove the right closeout panel first before unstolling the hydraulic Brake Booster mounting nuts from the Brake Pedal assembly and then unclipping the hydraulic Brake Booster pushrod retainer clip as well as removing the foam spacer from the Brake Pedal clevis pin. Disconnect the hydraulic brake pushrod attached to the clevis while removing the booster from its vehicle position. The procedure to install the hydraulic Brake Booster requires first mounting it to the vehicle before attaching the Brake Pedal clevis pin's pushrod followed by foam spacer and pushrod retainer clip. Fasten the hydraulic Brake Booster mounting nuts onto the booster mounting studs while tightening them to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). Install the right closeout panel while fitting the hydraulic Brake Booster return hose together with its clamp. The master cylinder needs installation onto the booster followed by connecting the hydraulic pressure feed line and tightening its mounting nuts to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Prior to filling the booster reservoir you must reconnect the fluid level sensor electrical connector. Also bleed the brake system if you have opened the hydraulic system.
