2001 Cadillac Seville Radiator fan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator fan on 2001 Cadillac Seville?
A: The first step when changing an electric Radiator fan involves both Battery Cable disconnection and cooling system fluid drainage. Begin by lowering the vehicle after removing its air deflector along with engine oil cooler pipe retaining bolt and retainer from the Fan Shroud. The second step involves taking off headlamps alongside hood latch support and disconnecting the lower and upper engine oil cooler pipes from the Radiator. Place these components aside. You should use the j 37097-a tool (Hose Clamp Remover/Installer) to take the inlet Radiator Hose off from the Radiator and set it over the engine area. Detach from the Fan Shroud first the air cleaner assembly and the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe retaining bolt. To disconnect the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fitting from the Radiator use the j 41623-a (Cooler Quick Connect Tool) while sliding off its plastic cap. Apply the j 37097-a to disconnect the outlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator before removing lower transaxle oil cooler pipe and the Radiator bracket mounting bolts and mounting brackets. Upgrade the Radiator/a/c condenser assembly by lifting from lower Radiator support pads while tilting its top section forward. The first step is to disconnect all electrical wiring harness connectors from Radiator fan motors before removing the wires' attaching clips from the Fan Shroud and finally unclipping the a/c discharge hose retainer. The two mounting bolts of the electric Radiator fan require removal while avoiding any damage to the attachment points at the bottom. The Radiator fan assembly must first be positioned toward the right side of the car before you pull up on the right side then move it to the left side before a complete removal. Start by mounting the Radiator fan assembly behind the Radiator and then insert it while aligning both Fan Shroud lower feet with Radiator mounting tabs. Secure the electric Radiator fan bolts until torque reaches 6 nm (53 inch pounds). Reinstall the a/c discharge hose retaining clip as well as wiring harness electrical connectors alongside the retaining clips onto the Fan Shroud. Start by placing the Radiator/a/c assembly onto its lower Radiator support pads and install the Radiator mounting brackets followed by tightening the Radiator bracket mounting bolt to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Make sure the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe points upwards. Use the j 37097-a to connect the outlet Radiator Hose to the Radiator while performing the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe connection with a 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.) torque tightening specification. Insert the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe through the Radiator quick connect fitting until you hear the "click" sound before gently pulling to validate proper retention and adding the plastic cap to the joint. Attach and tighten the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe retainer bolt to its place on the Fan Shroud at 6 nm (53 inch lbs.), and then proceed with air cleaner assembly installation. Utilize the j 37097-a tool to establish the inlet Radiator Hose connection with the Radiator before you attach both engine oil cooler pipes to the unit while tightening each fitting to 18 nm (113 ft. Lbs.). The final steps include putting on the headlamps and hood latch support followed by vehicle lifting with support to install the engine oil cooler pipe retaining clip and bolt which needs 6 nm (53 inch lbs.) torque before adding the air deflector and finally filling the cooling system and restoring the Battery Cable and checking the engine oil level.
