2002 Cadillac Seville Radiator fan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator fan on 2002 Cadillac Seville?
A: You need to begin the electric cooling fan replacement process by securing safety with battery negative cable removal and draining the cooling system fluids. Start by disassembling the Fan Shroud by removing its air deflector together with the Radiator oil cooler pipe retaining bolt and retainer. After that lower the vehicle. Start with broadening the Radiator access by removing the hood latch support and headlamps. Then disconnect both lower and upper Radiator oil cooler pipes from the Radiator while placing them to the side. A hose clamp remover/installer (J37097-A) should be used for removing the inlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator before setting it on top of the engine. Pull out the air cleaner assembly together with the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe retaining bolt from the Fan Shroud. Multi-purpose cooler quick connect tool (J41623-B) helps detach the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe quick connect fitting from the Radiator after removing its thin plastic cover. The hose clamp remover/installer tool (J37097-A) should be used to separate the outlet hose from the Radiator before disconnecting the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe and then removing the Radiator bracket mounting bolts and mounting brackets. To correctly place the Radiator/a/c condenser assembly, raise it from the lower Radiator support pads and steer the top section toward the front direction. First disconnect each electrical connector of the wiring harness from the cooling fan motors and take out all clip retainers attaching the harness to the Fan Shroud while also disconnecting the a/c discharge hose retaining clip. Be cautious when removing the two Radiator fan mounting bolts since lower attachment points might become damaged during this process. Install the new Radiator fan assembly by placing it behind the Radiator and aligning the parts correctly prior to securing the Radiator fan mounting bolts at 6 nm (53 inch lbs.). The first task is to reconnect the a/c discharge hose retaining clip while plugging in the wiring harness electrical connectors to the Fan Shroud. Replace the Radiator/a/c assembly onto the lower Radiator support pads before installing Radiator mounting brackets and bracket mounting bolts which should reach 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) of torque. Install the lower transaxle oil cooler pipe against the Radiator, orient it with a vertical position and fasten it with 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs. Torque) force. The hose clamp remover/installer (J37097-A) serves to join the outlet Radiator Hose with the Radiator while pushing the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe into the quick connect fitting before application of the plastic cap to complete the connection. Insert the upper transaxle oil cooler pipe retaining bolt onto the Fan Shroud while tightening it to 6 nm torque value then connect both upper and lower Radiator oil cooler pipes to the Radiator and tighten their bolts to 18 nm torque value. In conclusion, reinstall the headlamps, hood latch support, raise then support the vehicle before installing the Radiator oil cooler pipe retaining clip and bolt to the Fan Shroud with 6 nm (53 inch lbs.) torque. Reinstall the air deflector and follow by lowering the vehicle and filling the cooling system before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable and checking the engine oil level.
