  A: Begin the process by disabling the SIR system while you remove the hood closeout filler panel. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the wiring harness connector leading to the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor and separate the wiring harness connector from the sensor. Remove two mounting bolts which attach the sensor to its position on the hood latch support bracket. Then gently remove the sensor from this bracket. Fit the new inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor to the hood latch support bracket by using mounting bolts which need tightening at 10 N.m (89 lb in). Connect the sensor wiring harness connector to its port followed by securing the CPA to the wiring connector. Reinstall the hood closeout filler panel while enabling the SIR system and maintain careful handling of the sensor to prevent air bag deployment and personal injury.
