• Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2001 Chevrolet Corvette?

  A: To replace Starter motor, disconnect the negative cable of the battery and take out Catalytic Converter. Second, take off the positive Battery Cable nut, and its positive Battery Cable terminal and engine harness leads off the solenoid. Take off the nut for the s terminal, then remove the purple wire lead and washer from the solenoid. Support the Starter motor with the Starter motor bolts before removing the Starter motor. For installation, the Starter motor should be placed to the block, with the bolts of the Starter motor being tightened to a torque of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Set the purple lead wire to the 10:00 position upon installation. Drill the Starter motor s terminal washer and bevel lead wire purple to attach s terminal nut then tighten securely to 4 n.m (35 lb in) to align the gray and rust harness off the 6 and 7 o clock positions. Connect the gray and rust harness leads to the solenoid and then the positive Battery Cable terminal to the solenoid and tighten it to 8 n.m (71 lb in) with the positive Battery Cable nut. Finally, reinstall the Catalytic Converter and connect the negative Battery Cable.
