How to service and repair the front door handle on 2001 Chevrolet Metro?

The first step to fix the front door exterior handle involves taking out the trim panel attached to the front door. The access to handle rod and handle lock rod opens once you pull away the water deflector from the door. The outside handle rod and outside handle lock rod must be detached from their corresponding joints on the outside door handle. Take out both nuts together with the door handle from its installation onto the exterior of the door. The outside door handle can be mounted onto the door by using the provided 2 nuts which should be tightened to 7 N.m (62 lb in). Hook the outside handle rod along with the outside handle lock rod back to the joints that exist within the outside door handle. Secure the water deflector with adhesive on its reverse side then put it in its usual position before installing the front door trim panel.
