2001 Chevrolet Metro Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Oxygen Sensor (HO2S 1 W/o PUP Catalytic Conv) on 2001 Chevrolet Metro?
A: Begin service or repair of the Oxygen Sensor (HO2S 1 W/o PUP Catalytic Conv) when the engine temperature falls below 48°c (120°F) because high temperatures create difficulties in removal as well as thread damage to the Exhaust Manifold. Begin the service by disconnecting both the negative Battery Cable then removing the electrical connector which serves the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1. Take the ho2s 1 sensor out from the Exhaust Manifold position. The threads of new ho2s 1 have an anti-seize coating which must stay intact during installation; if repairing an original sensor the threads should receive an anti-seize application. Fasten the ho2s 1 in the Exhaust Manifold and use torque between 40-50 n.m (29-36 lb ft). The last step requires you to connect the ho2s 1 electrical connector and negative Battery Cable.
