How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S 2) on 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?

Start by turning off the ignition before you raise the vehicle. The disconnect process for HO2S 2 demands the use of specific anti-seize compound on its threads which includes both graphite and glass beads. The graphite component of the anti-seize compound burns down but the remaining glass beads help simplify the next removal process. When reinstalling a sensor you removed you should treat its threads with anti-seize compound. Manual operation with Heated Oxygen Sensor Socket (J 39194-B) allows careful removal of HO2S 2. Before sensor installation you must apply GM P/N 25613695 anti-seize compound or equivalent to new or serviced HO2S 2 threads followed by sensor installation using J 39194-B tool while applying torque to 41 N.m (30 lb ft). Afterwards return the HO2S 2 sensor while lowering the vehicle.
