2001 Chevrolet Tracker Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake pads on 2001 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Start replacing brake pads by pulling two-thirds of fluid out of the master cylinder reservoir with a siphon unit. Support the car on lift equipment and take out the tire and wheel parts from their position. Keep the brake components securely fastened to the flexible brake hoses before you loosen the 2 caliper pin bolts. Hanging the caliper bracket assembly from wire allows you to avoid damaging the brake hose while performing installation. Unhook the 2 brake pads (2, 3) and then take out the 2 Brake Pad retainers along with the 2 Brake Pad insulators . During inspection measure the Brake Pad thickness which must maintain at least 7.5 mm (0.295 inch) between pad and caliper plate before replacing. Install the 2 Brake Pad insulators onto brake pads (3, 4) before placing the 2 Brake Pad retainers. Put the Brake Pad with the wear indicator on the inner pad during installation. Install both brake pads to their spots on the caliper so the boots enter their specific grooves. Fit the caliper unit to its bracket and fasten it with both caliper pins at 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Put back the tire and wheel unit while letting the car drop down. Also refill the master cylinder reservoir. After engine start-up push the brake pedal several times to position the piston and run the pads in.
