2001 Chevrolet Tracker Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the crankshaft main bearing crankshaft seal on 2001 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: The crankshaft main bearing seal service requires removal of both the engine Oil Pan and Flywheel from the engine system. The service procedure starts by removing five bolts securing the rear main oil seal housing before removing the housing and its gasket. Pull the rear main oil seal out of the housing. The new rear main seal should be placed into the rear main seal housing before adding chassis grease gm p/n 1051344 or equivalent for lubrication. We must attach the rear main seal housing to the cylinder block with a new gasket while using five retaining bolts (1, 2) that need tightening up to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). The installation process requires removal of extra gasket material from the cylinder block mating surface once the rear main oil seal housing is properly in place. After completing the installation, replace the engine Oil Pan along with the Flywheel.
