2002 Chevrolet Tracker Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear crankshaft seal and housing on 2002 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Before handling replacement of crankshaft rear oil seal with housing start by uninstalling the engine Oil Pan along with the Flywheel. Begin by extracting the five bolts securing the rear main oil seal housing before you detach the seal housing together with its gasket and finally remove the rear main oil seal from the housing. Before mounting the new rear main seal in the housing you need to apply chassis grease according to gm part number 1051344 (Canadian part number 993037) or its equivalent. Use five retaining bolts (1, 2) to install the rear main seal housing to the cylinder block while applying new gasket material; tighten bolts to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Following installation of the rear main oil seal housing remove extra gasket material from the cylinder block interface before reattaching the Flywheel and engine Oil Pan.
