2001 Chevrolet Venture Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel pressure regulator on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Before starting the replacement of the Fuel Pressure Regulator you must drain fuel system pressure first. You should disconnect the vacuum line from the Fuel Pressure Regulator then remove its retaining screw. The Fuel Pressure Regulator requires lifting and twisting during detachment from the Fuel Rail and a shop towel should be used to contain any fuel spills. Pull away the retainer and spacer bracket after discarding them before removing the Fuel Pressure Regulator from the engine fuel return pipe and throwing out the inlet o-ring. Before installing the regulator secure the fuel return line first to stop the regulator from rotating towards the fuel retainer and spacer bracket which results in damage and might create a fuel leak. Test and clean the Fuel Pressure Regulator without compressed air because such methods could damage it; cleaning requires gas for the filter screen and bath solvent use is prohibited. Perform inspection of the filter screen for any contamination marks while replacing the Fuel Pressure Regulator if contamination is detected. Apply clean engine oil to the new inlet o-ring before putting it into place on the regulator inlet. The fuel return pipe needs connection to the regulator before the new retainer piece and spacer bracket enter the Fuel Rail slot. Secure the pressure regulator onto the Fuel Rail with an engine fuel return pipe nut torque of 17 n.m (13 lb ft). Connect the vacuum line through its attaching screw before tightening it to 8.5 n.m (76 lb in). A proper fit of the retainer and spacer bracket into the Fuel Rail slots should be verified by applying force to the regulator. End the inspection process by turning the ignition on for 2 seconds followed by 10 seconds off and another 2 seconds on to verify there are no fuel leaks.
