2001 GMC Safari Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the right engine mount on 2001 GMC Safari?
A: The first step in right Engine Mount replacement includes disconnecting the negative cable from the battery while simultaneously lifting the vehicle. The right-front tire along with the right-fender wheelhouse extension and Starter need to be taken off before proceeding. You must first remove the Engine Mount through-bolt together with its attached nut. A jack positioned at the square tab on the engine block rear section should be used to elevate the engine block so you can uninstall the Engine Mount. You can access and remove the higher two bolts securing the right Engine Mount bracket through the fender wheelhouse opening. The awd vehicle requires users to remove Engine Mount bolts which attach it to the frame before they can extract the mount itself. To disassemble the rwd Engine Mount you must remove its frame mount bolts along with their corresponding nuts. Begin awd vehicle Engine Mount installation by attaching the frame bolts then tighten all of them to 59 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). The right side Engine Mount along with its mounting hardware on rwd vehicles needs to be secured at the frame by torquing bolts to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) and nuts to 42 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). The Engine Mount bracket should be installed to the engine before securing the bracket bolts at 64 nm (47 ft. Lbs. Torque). Inspection begins with lowering the engine while you install the Engine Mount through-bolt and nut before tightening them to 68 nm (50 ft-lbs). After fitting the Starter the crew must reinstall the right fender wheelhouse extension and right front tire and lower the vehicle before connecting the battery negative cable.
