2001 GMC Savana 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a system on 2001 GMC Savana 2500?
A: The first step to install a new accumulator demands the recovery of refrigerant from the a/c system. First place the vehicle in a suitable working position then take out the coolant recovery surge tank followed by disconnecting the a/c lines from the accumulator. Remove both the electrical connectors from the low-pressure sensor before separating the accumulator along with its bracket from the vehicle. During installation fit the accumulator to the vehicle attaching the bracket while tightening screws to the Evaporator case at 6 n.m and securing a nut at the accumulator to the a/c Evaporator and blower module stud with 16 n.m torque. The compressor hose assembly needs installation onto the accumulator where it should be tightened to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). To complete the process reinstall the coolant recovery or surge tank and conduct a/c system evacuations then recharges and inspect the component fittings with a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
