How to replace the evaporator core in an A/C system on 2001 GMC Savana 2500?

The first step to replace the Evaporator core requires a complete recovery of refrigerant from the a/c system. Begin by disconnecting the surge tank along with removing the coolant recovery reservoir. Then disconnect the low pressure sensor electrical connectors and dispose of the accumulator. To conduct this procedure first disconnect the Evaporator tube before removing the keep cover together with the Evaporator case front cover retaining screws to finally take out the Evaporator front cover. Remove the Evaporator core after splitting the components apart and taking the case halves out. Install the replacement Evaporator core into the module by first installation of the Evaporator front cover followed by screw retention at 6 n.m (53 lb in). Replace the keep cover after you connect the Evaporator tube to the Evaporator and put back the accumulator. You need to connect electrical components followed by reinstallation of the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank. The technician should evacuate and recharge the a/c system, and conduct fittings leak detection on all components with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
