  A: Before working on delco 3400 brake pads you need to look at the Brake Master Cylinder fluid level; maintain the current position if the level sits between the highest and lowest marks. Elevate the vehicle and take off both tire and wheel sets. Place a large c-clamp over the caliper housing but apply it towards the back of the outboard pad until the piston pushes into the caliper bore enough for removal, then remove the clamp. Apply stout mechanic's wire to hold up the brake caliper to guard against hydraulic hose damage. With the front caliper attached to the mounting bracket take off the hydraulic hose. Next disengage the front outboard pad from the caliper housing by using a flat-bladed tool then remove the front inboard pad.
