GMC Savana 3500 Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the brake pads on a Delco 3400 on GMC Savana 3500?
A: Position the delco 3400 vehicle through lifting and placing it on suitable support stands before starting Brake Pad service. Take off the front brake caliper from its position on the rotor without disconnecting the brake line. Use a flat-bladed tool to detach the front outboard Brake Pad bottoms from the caliper housing holes and then remove the front inboard Brake Pad. Remove and replace defective caliper bolts alongside worn bushings or sleeves without trying to clean off rust. Reinstall new bushings and seals when caliper bolt hardware shows signs or scuffs and nicks. To install parts apply delco silicone lube gm part 18010909 (or equivalent) to all front brake components including the caliper and hardware. Fit the front Brake Pad by inserting its retaining ring into the caliper piston space and positioning it flat against the metal surface. Afterward put on the front outboard Brake Pad featuring the wear indicator leading side first during forward tire motion while making sure it rests flat upon the caliper. Place the front brake caliper back onto the rotor slot and test the brake pedal strength. First test brake responsiveness by pressing the pedal firmly and check if brake fluid is at the proper level in the master cylinder before you drive. Take the safety stands off and bring the vehicle to ground level.
