    Q:
How to replace the front brake pads on Chevrolet Express 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the front brake pads, first one checks the level of fluid at the brake master cylinder reservoir; if it is halfway between the maximum full point and minimum allowable level, no fluids are drained off, but if it exceeds, make it at half way point. Lift up the vehicle and take away the tire and wheel set. When separated from its mount, the brake caliper should be supported by heavy mechanic's wire or an equivalent to check the operation of the caliper. To remove the caliper from mounting bracket, without disconnecting the braking system analogue hydraulic brake flexible hose, then take out the brake pads from the mounting bracket of the caliper and remove discarding them from the anti-rattle clips. Check caliper and mounting bracket prior to fitting new anti rattle clips to inside of caliper mounting bracket and new brake pads as previously observed during removal. After reinstalling the brake caliper and then the tire and wheel assembly, go ahead and remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle. With the engine turned off, gradually press the brake pedal to about 2/3 distance, let it off, and then wait 15 seconds to do it again until a firm pedal is achieved to precisely seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads. Lastly, top up the master cylinder reservoir at the correct level with clean brake fluid and burnish brake pads and rotors.

    Q:
How to replace the front disc brake pads on Chevrolet Express 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Check the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir first. If the fluid shows a reading between the maximum-full and minimum points, no fluid needs to be drained before pads replacement. First lift the vehicle to rest position and take out its tire and wheel set. Brake calipers should be temporarily fixed with mechanics wire to protect the hydraulic brake hose when replacing the front brake pads. Disconnect the caliper from its bracket without disconnecting the hose and remove the brake pads from the bracket using a screwdriver to discard the anti-rattle clips. Check both the caliper and its mounting part. Install new anti-rattle clips on the brake caliper mounting bracket's inner sections and place brake pads into the same position they left at removal. Reinstall the brake caliper afterward. Reinstall the tire and wheel unit then take out the safety stands to lower the car. After turning off the engine press the Brake Pedal to 2/3 its range while slowing down then let go of the pedal. Keep pushing the Brake Pedal several times over 15-second periods to successfully position brake caliper pistons and brake pads. Complete the process by adding clean brake fluid to the master cylinder reservoir and making several slow Brake Pad and rotor engagement cycles.

    Q:
How to replace the rear brake pads on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Check the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir before work begins. If fluid sits between the marks indicating the operating range, no fluid needs to be drained but draining is necessary when it reaches the top mark. First lift the vehicle then take off the tire and wheel unit from below. Use a c-clamp to push the caliper pistons slowly to bottom position before relocating them. Secure the brake caliper with strong mechanic's wire when you disconnect it from its mount and keep the hydraulic flexible brake hose connected to avoid damage. Take out the caliper from its bracket while keeping the hydraulic brake hose secured to check the caliper parts. Take off brake pads from the Brake Caliper Bracket and keep their installation order in mind before getting rid of the anti-rattle clips. Install the brake caliper on the bracket and attach its new anti-rattle clips before adding brake pads according to their removal orientation. Put back the tire and wheel parts then lower down the vehicle before applying the brake pedal gently from zero position up to 2/3 of its range. Push the brake pedal down 15 times to ensure brake caliper pistons and brake pads move into the correct position. Complete the brake fluid reservoir with fresh fluid before executing Brake Pad and rotor break-in procedures.
