How to replace the rear brake disc on 2001 GMC Yukon XL 1500?

You need to replace the rear Brake Disc (except on dual wheels) by first releasing the parking brake and checking the brake reservoir fluid level. Then adjust the fluid amount to the midway point if the level is above that range. After lifting the vehicle on stands you need to disconnect the tire and wheel assembly. Seize the caliper mounting bracket bolts to pull off the assembly with the caliper as one unit from the suspension and secure it on heavy gauge wire. Turn the disc gently while moving it away from the axle to remove. Apply the installation process by removing rust from both the disc and hub flange plus adding the disc through slow rotation and force towards the axle. Reinstall the caliper and bracket assembly and refasten it by first removing residual adhesive material and then adding threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 product to caliper bracket bolt threads before tightening them at recommended torque levels. For 15 series bolts apply 175 nm torque and 300 nm torque for 25/35 series. Put back the tire and wheel unit while taking away the safety stands then lower the vehicle. After turning off the engine you should press and release the brake pedal almost until two-thirds of its range to allow the brake caliper pistons and pads to rest properly. Top off the brake master cylinder reservoir to its right amount with fresh brake fluid.
