    Q:
How to replace the rear brake disc without NYS on Cadillac Escalade EXT? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the rear brake rotor (without NYS), start the process with the removal of the park brake, as well as raising the vehicle securely. Remove the tire and wheel assembly and designate the rotor's position to the axle flange. Compress brake caliper pistons with a c-clamp to remove caliper and bracket assembly without disconnecting hose, supporting with heavy mechanic's wire. Remove the rotor retaining push nuts where available and if required hit the hub or rotor with a deadblow hammer to loosen it. If it is hard to remove the rotor, attach the rotor removal tool (J-46277) onto the slide hammer with adapter (J 2619-01) and shove it between the friction surfaces of the rotor to help in extraction. Examine the park brake components and replace any damaged parts. To install, clean the hub flange with the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) and the inside diameter of the brake rotor with the rotor resurfacing kit (J 41013). Make sure that all mating surfaces are free of debris and align the rotor and install it by turning it gently. If the rotor was a part of a brake system repair measure the assembled lateral runout (LRO) and rectify it if it is required. Remove the caliper bracket and caliper assembly, clean the bolt threads and apply threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488), and install them to the specified torque. Finally, reinstall the tire and wheel assembly, and lower the vehicle, and set the brake caliper pistons correctly on the brake pedal by pressing and releasing it a few times before filling the master cylinder reservoir with clean brake fluid.

    Q:
How to replace the front brake disc on Chevrolet Express 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Get the needed tools like disc resurfacing kit (J 41013) and wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) if you want to replace the front Brake Disc. Clean all friction surfaces by applying denatured alcohol to the new disc then wiping it away to ready the surface for work. Lift the vehicle and set it on stands before taking out the wheel and tire assembly. Dual wheel vehicle owners should detach the front wheel hub extension during this step. Position a large screwdriver through the brake caliper into one disc vane to block turning while marking where the hub extension meets the hub. Afterwards remove the hub-side bolts from the extension. Gently hit the hub extension edges with a rubber mallet when it is tough to remove. Apply your c-clamp between the caliper bores to push the pistons forward and remove the brake caliper. Protect the brake hose from damage while installing mechanics wire beneath the brake caliper. If the disc sticks due to corrosion you should clean this area and put penetrating oil onto it before forcing it out of the hub with two bolts that measure m10 x 1.5. Before installing the hub and disc you must clean all rust and dirt particles from their mating surfaces with the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) and disc resurfacing kit (J 41013). Install the disc only after checking that the hub flange surface shows no damage. Check the lateral runout measurement of the disc assembly after installation and adjust it if needed to meet project standards. After cleaning the caliper bolt threads put threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canada 10953488) on threads and install the caliper assembly with caliper bracket. Tighten caliper bracket bolts to the recommended torque values. Put the front wheel hub extension for dual-wheel vehicles back into its original position then tighten all nuts to the required torque. Put the wheel and tire back on and let the vehicle drop. Also position the brake caliper pistons properly by pressing and releasing the brake pedal until a strong pedal feel is achieved before adding new brake fluid to the reservoir.

    Q:
How to replace the rear Brake Disc on dual wheels on GMC Yukon XL 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before replacing the rear Brake Disc on dual wheels check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level. If it sits midway between marks you need no fluid adjustment but must drain excess fluid to achieve this level. Set the hub and disc connection going onto a hydraulic press to extract wheel studs from the assembly. When installing the wheel assembly place the hub and disc parts in correct position then insert wheel studs and put the wheel back in place. When the engine is turned off lower the car and use brake pressure up to two-thirds of the total range before easing off pressure. You should push the brake pedal 15 times before each cycle to make sure brake calipers and pads properly fit in place. Top off the master cylinder reservoir using new brake fluid at the suggested fluid amount.
