    Q:
How to replace the rear disc brake backing plate on Chevrolet Tahoe? Posted by Customer
    A:
After freeing the park brake you need to lift the vehicle and place supports under it to proceed with the replacement. Take off the tire and wheel unit before easing the park brake cable tension by pulling down on the cable near the equalizer bar and then detaching it from the equalizer. Take off the park brake cable from its mounting bracket using the locking tabs and remove the rear brake cable end from the park brake actuator lever . First unfasten the rotor from the housing then lower the Axle Shaft before taking out the park brake shoe. Using a socket and wrench remove the backing plate bolts until you can take the backing plate away from the axle housing flange. Put the backing plate on the axle housing flange first then use the backing plate nuts to fasten it at 135 nm (100 ft. Lbs.). Install the park brake shoe first and then the Axle Shaft before adjusting the park brake shoe. Install the rotor while connecting the rear park brake cable end back to the park brake actuator lever and fasten the park brake cable to its mounting bracket through the locking tabs. Complete the installation by connecting the equalizer bar to the park brake cable then put back the tire and wheel unit. Take out the safety stands and lower the vehicle while setting the park brake properly.
